'Keeps You Guessing': Ben Affleck Teases Action-Packed Netflix Thriller 'RIP'

Ben Affleck and Matt Damon in 'RIP'

Crime, corruption, and loyalty — Affleck and Damon reunite for an intense new thriller.

Ben Affleck made a surprise appearance at Netflix’s Next on Netflix Special Presentation in Los Angeles on January 29 to introduce his latest action-packed crime thriller, RIP. The film, which reunites him with longtime friend and collaborator Matt Damon, promises a gripping, suspense-filled ride that blends elements of Heat, Narc, and Training Day.

A Crime Thriller That Explores the Cost of Money

Inspired by true events, RIP follows a team of Miami police officers who stumble upon millions of dollars in cash hidden in an abandoned stash house. As the news of their discovery spreads, trust within the group begins to unravel, and external threats force them to question their loyalties and survival.

Affleck, who stars in and produced the film through Artists Equity — the production company he co-founded with Damon — described RIP as "a really fun, engaging ride that keeps you guessing." He emphasized that the film is not just a tense crime drama but also "a compelling, complicated human story" that taps into timeless cinematic themes.

The film, directed by Joe Carnahan, boasts an impressive cast, including Teyana Taylor, Steven Yeun, Sasha Calle, Catalina Sandino, Néstor Carbonell, and Kyle Chandler.

Affleck and Damon’s Legacy and Their Vision for Artists Equity

This marks the seventh project produced by Artists Equity, and Affleck underscored its significance:

"It really is in a lot of ways the most important for us because we’ve found some really exciting partners who are not just interested in what has been, but what could be at Netflix."

Affleck and Damon’s collaboration spans decades, dating back to their Oscar-winning screenplay for Good Will Hunting in 1997. Their shared passion for filmmaking ultimately led them to create Artists Equity, a company dedicated to giving filmmakers creative freedom and control.

Reflecting on their decision to launch their own production house, Damon previously told Deadline, "This is what we love to do more than anything. The only thing better is doing it together."

Netflix will release RIP in 2025, bringing this gripping, high-stakes thriller to audiences worldwide.
