'Freakier Friday' Promises Double the Swap Madness and Star-Studded Surprises

Freakier Friday still

The chaos of body swapping continues in Freakier Friday, previewed in the latest trailer.

Lindsay Lohan ’s Anna Coleman faces wedding preparations with her mom Tess (Jamie Lee Curtis) by her side. Tensions rise as Anna’s daughter (Julia Butters) and her fiancé Eric’s daughter clash — highlighted when Anna’s daughter mocks her vows and calls Lily Davies “a little demon thing with an obnoxious accent.” During a bachelorette party, a fortune teller (Vanessa Bayer) predicts that the step-sisters will be “called to be family” and hints they’ll learn lessons from “walking in each other’s paths.”

Suddenly, lightning strikes twice, causing all four to swap bodies — Anna and her daughter switch places, as do Tess and Lily. Bayer’s voice urges them to “change the hearts you know are wrong” to find where they truly belong. Hilarity ensues as chaos erupts, with Lily (as Jamie Lee Curtis) threatening to “break our parents up for good,” while the original duo aims to reunite Anna with her first love, Jake (Chad Michael Murray).

Previously, on March 14: After 22 years, Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan reunite as Tess and Anna in Freakier Friday. The story picks up years later, with Anna now a mother navigating blended families. Lightning might strike twice as they face new challenges. The trailer shows a palm-reading scene where a fortune teller warns that their intertwined life lines could bring lessons once more. Set to Chappel Roan’s “HOT TO GO!”, the ground shakes again as the body swap chaos unfolds — this time involving two more people.

Chad Michael Murray makes a flashy motorcycle entrance, hinting at romantic reunions. Fans also spotted Elaine Hendrix from The Parent Trap in a brief scene. The cast includes Julia Butters, Sophia Hammons, Rosalind Chao, Vanessa Bayer, and Mark Harmon. Nisha Ganatra directs based on Mary Rodgers’ book "Freaky Friday". Produced by Kristin Burr, Andrew Gunn, Jamie Lee Curtis, with Lindsay Lohan as executive producer. The film hits theaters August 8.
