Ben Affleck no longer wants to star in superhero projects. In a recent interview with GQ, the actor admitted that his experience in this genre was not the most pleasant, though it wasn’t just about the nature of such films.
"There are a number of reasons why that was a really excruciating experience and they don’t all have to do with the simple dynamic of, say, being in a superhero movie or whatever," Affleck said.
He emphasized that his decision to step away from the genre wasn’t solely due to a negative experience, but rather because his interest in it had faded. The actor acknowledged that the issues stemmed not only from misalignment among those involved in the process but also from his own shortcomings.

"And also by the way, I wasn’t bringing anything particularly wonderful to that equation at the time, either. I had my own failings, significant failings, in that process and at that time."
Affleck also noted that his mental state had a significant impact on his work, admitting that while audiences could judge his performance as an actor by watching his films, his negative experience was largely due to the unhappiness he brought with him to work each day. He acknowledged that he lacked positive energy on set, which affected his overall experience.
